Le Chase, Season 2, Chapter 5 *FINALE*

Finally, it's the finale of Le Chase, the finale everyone's been anticipating for!

I tried making it as long as possible, this took me over 3 hours actually. I hope you guys enjoy it. Thank you to all the people who participated in the contest, it was really hard choosing one winner for the post. The winner's @let__it_be! I hope you liked how I put your work into mine and intermixed them. Enjoy.

A shout out goes to such an amazing artist, @ShaikhaAlHomoud. I couldn't find a place to suit your art work in the post but I wanted you to know how incredible your sketch was. Truly amazing mashallah! Allah yiwafgch. x

Finally, goodbye to Le Chase. Next story I'm writing a Season 2 for is either Masque or Masquerade. I'm going with Masque. Of course I'm not going to write it straight away, take a little break and then I'll start it.

Hope you enjoy the finale, I certainly enjoyed writing it.

Previously in Chapter 4:

“But I think…”

“What? Anything, please I need you. Screw Aisha, I never wanted her; I’ve always wanted you and you. No one else besides you, there is any other soul that can ever capture my heart as much as yours has,” Thari pleaded, using every last bit of strength in him to keep the only valuable relationship in his life.

He was about to smile, to feel relieved to get rid of the pain and heartbreak, finally sure that he had his wife back but her words denied every good feeling he had.

“I think we need a separation.”

-

It’s been days, weeks and months. I couldn’t take it anymore. I haven’t seen my wife’s face for 2,678,400 seconds. No, not even that much. It’s actually double that huge number. It’s been two months. It ached; every part of me ached to touch her, to hear her musical voice, to surround myself with her presence and just having that security, knowing that I had someone, who loves me.

And what did I do? I messed it all up.

How can I explain how painful it is to miss someone? Someone who was your life. God, it hurts to say “was” than “is”. Past tense. The past. My life’s gone. She’s gone.

All I did was give her a note, hoping she’d call when she woke up after changing her mind, but I never received a call. It’s been two months, waiting for that call.

(This written by @let__it_be! Congratulations on winning the contest by the way.)

I remembered that day like it was yesterday.

I was hesitated to open the door, too worried to meet her eyes, the eyes that have spoken "I love you" so many times, but still I had to get in. I felt my body shudder with anxiety, staring at my ebony shadow that stood still, not moving. I took a deep breath, catching a lump of mint air into my lungs, then opened the door to see Layal curled up in bed, looking like a newborn baby.

I felt an ache in my heart. A big hole that’s been growing bigger and bigger deep inside of me. One minute, I felt my feet were able to move, to slide towards her, that beautiful creature and forced my hands that held my letter to land softly beside her. I was worried. I did my move so slow and inaudibly: one of my successful moves, I thought.

Next I stood right besides her, gawking at the beauty that I'll miss, the fair lineaments that once charmed me. A tear succeeded by escaping my eye, but I luckily suppressed myself on time. And just before I left goodbye. I leaned toward her, and pressed my lips on her forehead, making my point: goodbye and I love you.

I kept my self in my position, still kissing her forehead, not wanting to go away. But I stood up, and reread the letter one more time:

I loved you. I loved you the moment
those brown strays of your hair escaped your veil. The moment I looked at you felt like a blind man seeing the sun for the first time. Layal, I didn't need a perfect one, I only needed someone that made me feel like the only one and you did that with all the love you kept for me. I loved hearing my name when it came out of your lips, I loved you when I wrapped my arms around you. I loved every piece of you Layal. It's hard to say goodbye, but instead I'll say I love you. I loved you the moment you said, "hi, how can I help you?"
Hope you forgive me -Thari.

“Thari, you have to stop this, seriously dude,” 3abbas’s voice brought me back to reality. As usual, he’s been bringing me back to reality every morning, when I’d space out and my eyes would become dull. Actually, my eyes have been dull ever since I was forced to leave you Layal. I wish you were here to read my thoughts, just to get a glimpse of how much I truly love you. You’ve taken over my thoughts completely, where were the problems my parents kept talking about marriage?

Divorce? Becoming bored of your wife? Your relationship with your wife would turn into a business partnership?

But none of those problems had happened. You know what happened? I became too attached. I loved too hard. I was too imperfect. I made too many mistakes. We weren’t business partners, we were lovers, I was your husband. There’s that word again…

Was.

“Madre,” I uttered, my body feeling frozen and numb, resting on 3abbas’s couch in his cigarette-scented diwaneya.

“It’s been two months, get your butt off my couch and do something already.” 3abbas sighed, his eyes looking pained, seeing his best friend being once again, as weak as a child. Even a child was stronger than me, happier than me, shall I go on? Or does my life sound miserable enough already?

“She wants a separation, she got one.”

“Didn’t she a least give you a date or something?”

“A date for what?”

“To see you again.”

“No. I wish. Then I’d count down the days, the minutes and the seconds just to see her face again.”

“God, that woman really made you soft,” 3abbas shook his head, disapproving of me.

“She’s my wife 3abbas, do I have to remind you how many years I’ve spent with her? How many years I’ve been chasing her? You won’t ever understand, you can’t even love just one woman, you’ve got your list of girlfriends, even after more than five years you’re still acting like you’re still twenty.”

“Hey hey, ma gelna shay enzain? Bas la tetdakhal. W 3la fekra, as I recall, you used to be the same.”

“I changed. I grew up.”

“Changed? Yeah. Grew up? Ha, you’ve been on my couch for weeks when you have enough money to build your own villa. Really now, grew up? You’re still too scared to live alone. No, I mean, be alone.”

“3abbas, I’ll be out of your hair by tomorrow, mashe?” I tried to say it in a calming manner, definitely not in the mood to start another argument with him. He huffed out the last of the smoke in his cigarette and left me alone in peace.

-

“Layal, he sounds like a jerk to me,” one of Layal’s friends, Manal stated. Hessa sat set next to her in the café, both of them were holding their coffees to their mouth, sipping them every few seconds but gasping when Layal spoke more of her marriage crisis.

“I told her!” Hessa exclaimed, shaking her head. “You’re still young, you can find another husband. My brother’s single, you know I’d fill him up with your good features, your honesty, your great reputation and family name. He’ll be bound to take you!”

“Hessa, la2! Mnu yabe wa7da ma tegder etyeeb 3yaal? I can’t have children, even if I was the most beautiful woman in the world, no man would want me.” Layal sighed, tired of the girls’ pleads for her gossip. She finally had told them everything, even after two months of keeping her problems to herself, locking them all away in an imaginary chest whilst she kept herself busy, to avoid thinking of Thari.

“Men these days don’t even want kids, they’re just looking for fun a9lan,” Manal purred, her eyelashes full of mascara as she fluttered them around.

“I’m too old for fun.”

“Your soul’s too old for that body of yours you mean,” Manal corrected her as she straightened out her hair. The girls were sitting in the corner of Chocolate Bar, their desserts laid untouched in front of them because of all the gossip they’ve been doing, rather than any eating.

“Layal, do you still love him?” Hessa said after staring at Layal’s frowned eyes for so long as Manal kept criticising her best friend. Layal smiled at Hessa, pausing for a while without answering. Her smile was bright, her teeth sparkling but through her thick heavy eyelashes, behind the coloured eyes, sadness was hidden.

“You still love him,” Hessa murmured, a sad smile on her lips. Manal watched both women, being totally lost in the midst of the conversation.

“Love’s hard to fall out of when you’re the one wanting to get rid of it, it’s like a pest, it keeps sticking to me, to my heart and I can’t get it off. My heart’s addicted to it, addicted to him and the way he makes me feel, no matter how many jabs of pain love causes, you just can never fall out of it that easily,” Layal explained but soon was at a loss of words when she began to realize something. She would never get another chance at this kind of love ever again if she remained this way, if she didn’t go back to her husband, if she continued being quiet and weak.

“I h-have to go!” Layal stuttered, grabbing her purse, ready to bolt out of the café.

“Wein ray7a?!” Hessa stood up from her seat, looking confused. But before Layal could successfully escape the café, someone bumped into her as they tried entering the chocolate bar café.

“S-sorry,” Layal stuttered, trying to get out of the way to drive back home, to find Thari. But she didn’t know that instead, he had found her.

“Sorry.” His voice startled her; she looked up and found his smoldering dark eyes looking down to hers. His body was close, the warmth exceeding between them. “Funny finding you here.” His voice lacked the sense of humor, it sounded sad and only a glint of happiness laid under the coat of sadness, because he had seen her. Seeing her made him happy but it also reminded him that he couldn’t have her. But he had an idea, an idea that struck him out of nowhere.

“Oh, it’s you.”

“Sorry, do we know each other?” Thari gave Layal a small smile, looking down at her beautiful face, the coloured eyes, the shaped nose, the nude lips and the strands of dark brown hair that kept escaping her veil.

“W-what?” Layal seemed confused.

“Do you work here? I’ve never seen you around here before but since your nametag says Layal, it’s good to meet you Layal. Really good.” Thari smiled and Layal finally understood. The memories of years ago, when they first met, at the same exact spot. Layal looked around her, visualizing the younger Thari, the younger version of herself, in Chocolate Bar, years and years ago.

"Hi, can I help you?" Layal had asked once a tall man, about her age had walked into the café/restaurant. He had his beanie on, his hair a mess but his handsome face looked eager once his eyes met hers. His eyes slid down to her nametag and she had remembered that her name was tagged on it.

"Excuse me sir?" Her voice was dripped with professionalism, trying to be as unreadable as possible. His eyes kept following her around and she began to become quite annoyed. Okay maybe a bit shy too, but annoyed as well.

"Oh, uhm asif." He grinned easily towards her, a grin that made the annoyance in her to melt away in seconds.

"Can I help you?" She said cool-y, her straight nose pointed right at him.

"Uhm yeah, can I have one Night and Day slice of cake?” He had asked, Layal ignored his deep gaze into her eyes. He wouldn’t take his eyes off of her and she began to grow nervous but she hid it well. She hadn’t gotten that much attention that quickly before, usually she’d be annoyed but his smile, the handsome face, wouldn’t let the annoyance to linger long.

"Okay that will be 1.250KD." She ignored his gaze, keeping her eyes down on the counter. He handed the money over, he was expecting her to take it from his fingers but instead, she waited till the money was on the marble counter before taking it, avoiding skin contact.

As he waited for his chocolate cake, his eyes kept following the girl. Layal turned around; a sudden smile filled her face, a tiny dimple forming on her left cheek, barely noticeable. She was chatting to her other Kuwaiti friends, not knowing that her voice was audible by the tall handsome guy that kept watching her eagerly.

"Offh ley meta intern job? Akeed it'll look good when I apply for universities in Ireland?" Her voice was more casual and sweet toned with her friends; it didn't have a hint of professionalism anymore.

"Layal, shfeech? Lazem intern job! Do you know how competitive it is?" Her chubby friend, with the beautiful long caramel hair laughed at Layal. Her nametag said "Hind".

"Oh digeega, el cake khala9." Layal suddenly said, ending the conversation and hurrying into the kitchens inside to grab the guy’s cake. Her manicured hands handled the cake carefully, slipping it into the paper bag. It was obvious that she was new to this job.

"There." She handed him the paper bag, not making eye contact. Her English was fluent and clear.

"Sorry but I couldn't help overhearing, bitrou7een Ireland?" The guy had asked Layal. His nosiness was clear and Layal was actually pleased on the inside that he was taking his interest in her further.

"Uhm, maybe. I'm transferring from AUK." Layal looked weird-ed out, tryig to act as uninterested as possible.

"Refeeji eb Ireland, he worked two summer jobs and had full As as his grades but he had to stay for a foundation year, it's pretty hard." He lost his grin, trying to be cool.

"No way." Layal's face grew pale.

"Eee.. laish, chem yebtay bel GPA?" Layal wasn't so tense anymore and he seemed to have taken it as a chance to continue speaking.

"Not high enough." Layal frowned, her mini dimple forming at her left cheek again.

"Shnu nawya tedriseen?" He casually asked before Layal could notice she was talking to a total stranger. There wasn't anyone behind him waiting to order for takeaway so he saw this as a chance to take.

"Art." Layal murmured with a hint of a smile in her voice.

"AUM has art, you don't need to go to Ireland."

"Laish, enta makhith Art?" Layal's friend Hind shot him a dirty glare, telling me to stop trying to flirt. Layal wanted to giggle, her friend taking control of the situation.

"Eee makhith Art and communications, double major." He shot right back, her face turning a bit shocked. He had shocked Layal too, maybe even impressed her but Layal didn’t want to think about becoming impressed, he was such another dude wanting to flirt around. She built the barriers back up between them but the fact that he took art too intrigued her, she couldn’t control her mouth or her facial expressions.

"Is it any good?" Layal lit up once she heard him say that he took Art.

"It's loads of fun, you should try it." He gave her another one of his grins. Layal tensed up at last minute, noticing that they were having an actual conversation in public.

"Oh uhm, okay mashkour." Layal awkwardly said once she heard a man call out her name. Probably the manager, she thought, she was forced to leave him standing there. She saw his mouth move for a second but she was too busy to notice about what he said or even think about ever seeing him again.

“Hello?” Thari had waved a hand in front of Layal, bringing her year’s back, from the past to the present, to the modern chocolate bar, with the older and even more handsome Thari.

Boy was she wrong to ever think that she wouldn’t see that face again. Did she ever expect that a stranger from years ago would turn out to be her husband today?

“Y-yes?” Layal answered.

“What’s good to order around here?” Thari gave her a smile.

“A night and day slice of cake,” Layal couldn’t help but smile, she still remembered his order that day, years ago.

“Sounds delicious, would you join me? Or are you too busy? You kind of look like a kind of person who enjoys Art, or maybe I’m just guessing?”

“You’re guessing right.”

“Oh, but now you haven’t even answered my invitation.” Thari gave her one of his famous grins, his wrinkles barely noticeable and finally, Layal could see the young teenager she had fallen in love with. She was falling for him, all over again.

“La2 asfa bas ma a3rfk.”

“Ra7 et3rfeeny.”

“La2, ma at3araf 3la ay a7ad.”

“Bas ana mu ay a7ad,” Thari was stubborn, his grin was huge, he kept arguing but Layal tried to keep a strict face, acting as professional as she was on that day, the day they first met.

“3yal enta mnu?” Layal challenged him.

“I can tell you that if the meeting with you in a few seconds goes as well as I hope it does, I’ll be your husband.” Thari smiled.

“Oh really? Theqa. We just met.”

“Layal, ever heard of love at first sight?”

“I’ve heard of it.”

“I’ve experienced it.”

“With who? I need proof to really know that it exists.”

“Well, there’s an intern who used to work here. I fell in love with her the first time I laid eyes on her years ago. I came by today, hoping to see her again. Maybe also hoping to fall in love at first sight all over again.”

“But how can you fall in love at first sight all over again if you’ve already seen her?”

“Because it feels like the first time every time I look into those coloured eyes of yours Layal,” Thari grew closer and intertwined his long masculine fingers around Layal’s feminine manicured ones. Her cheeks became rosier by the second; they were standing by the corner, not knowing that Layal’s friends were just staring at them, enjoying the whole show.

“That was too fast.”

“What is?” Thari smiled as Layal’s hands squeezed his.

“You said you’d become my husband if the meeting went well.”

“Yeah?”

“We didn’t even have the meeting and you’re already my husband.” Thari’s grin became huge after she said those words. He finally knew that she was his again.

“And I hope I’ll be your husband for as long as possible,” Thari brushed his nose lightly over hers as fast as possible, before anyone else noticed anything. He knew the girls were watching them but he was grateful that no one else was in the restaurant.

“Layaaal! Who is this?” A voice purred behind the couple, Layal was smiling as she turned around to look at Manal and Hessa, standing behind them.

“My husband, Thari Al-X. These are my friends, Hessa Al-X and that’s Manal Al-X.” Layal introduced each woman to her husband but she didn’t understand why his facial expressions turned from blissfully happy to utterly shocked when his eyes met Manal’s.

“Thari Al-X?” Manal murmured, looking shocked as well. Thari stared back at the so-called-Manal, her features were the same but they’ve grown but she definitely his ex from years ago, the woman he first loved before Layal. The ex that lied to him, telling him she was dying just as an excuse to leave Thari.

Just when everything was going smoothly, this had to happen?

“What, do you two know each other?” Layal looked at Thari and back to Manal, looking confused. This time, Thari was quiet, not wanting to lie. He was about to explain but Manal cut him off once she saw his lips part, ready to expose them both.

“Actually, no. We don’t know each other; I just didn’t know that was your husband. I’m so happy you two are back together! Allah yekhaleekom 7ag b3a’9,” Manal’s face broke out into a huge smile.

“Manal’s the manager’s wife at our workplace Thari and Hessa works with us…” Layal began to speak but Thari drowned out the voices, he forgot about Manal and Manal had forgotten about him, their smiles was obvious, they spoke to each other with the smiles, telling each other secretly “thank you” for the troubles and a thank you for letting Thari move on.

Thari focused on his wife’s face as she continued speaking, chatting happily, her eyes lit up, not a glint of sadness laid there. Thari remained as close to her, holding her smooth hand tightly, not wanting to ever let go again.

Le Chase, Season 2, Chapter 4.

Heyy! I hope you all had a great day today. Mine was boring, this week's full of dreadful maths exams, YES PLURAL! More than ONE exam to do with my worst subject, ugh..

Anywho, lets go to more positive things, like this post and a few amazing people.

This chapter goes out to a beautiful tall Dalia with dark brown/black hair and fair skin, a friend of Fatma's and a reader I was lucky to meet last weekend.

This chapter also goes to the sweetheart @Israa2 and the amazing @JO_blog2 (check her blog out you guys!) INCREDIBLE supporters! I love you both and thank you for all your kindness and support. People like you make this hobby so enjoyable. x

AAAANDD for my panda, you know who you are (pssttt, Razan!) I love you I love you I love you, I'd go on but people reading this want me to stop blabbing already lol.

As for the contest winners, they'll be announced in Chapter 5 enshallah (it may be the last chapter too, before I write a Season 2 for my other two stories, as I promised you guys). I didn't want to wait till the contest was done with before writing because I knew I'd get caught up in the weekend with going out and homework and then take too long to post. So I'll post chapter 4 this week since you all have been so patient and I've been super annoying to be honest, with the posts and cliffhangers (I confess to it!).

Hope you enjoy this chapter beautiful people.

Previously in Chapter 3:

"Okay," Layal said.

"Okay what? Thari and 3abbas asked at once.

The following words that left Layal's mouth shocked Thari to the core.

"Okay, lets get you married Thari."

-

Did I hear her right? Thari thought to himself as his eyes cascaded over his wife’s beautiful face. It looked determined, strong and serious. He couldn’t see a hint of doubt or regret after her words had left her mouth. He couldn’t believe it; he felt the atmosphere grow murkier by the second. He wanted to scream, shout and repeatedly call her ludicrous for saying those words to her own husband. Didn’t she even have one percent of jealousy towards him?! Did she loathe him this much?

Did she?

“THARI, earth to THARI?!” The annoying voice of 3abbas bulldozed his uneasy thoughts. Thari lightly smacked his left cheek, getting an awkward glance from 3abbas from his sudden action. His thoughts were taking over most of his focus and he couldn’t even remember what he was doing with the paper placed in front of him. His vision blurred, all he saw was thousands of words that possibly meant he had to agree to some legal terms. Even his intelligence drifted off for a few minutes.

“Eee-ee,” Thari grunted in response, looking up from the paper and giving up on trying to figure out what he was supposed to do with it.

“I gave you that contract two hours ago, all you had to do was analyze it and sign it. It usually takes you a minute dude, what’s up with you?” 3abbas asked in an annoyed tone, resting his back against the wall of Thari’s coffee scented office.

“Oh, so that’s what I was supposed to do…” Thari murmured quietly to himself, seventy percent of his membrane was still engrossed into what happened with Layal a few days ago. He’s been trying to speak to her ever since but she’s been avoiding him, always locking the bedroom door when she went to sleep and always hanging out at a friend’s house or the office. Her excuse was: “Why can’t I spend all my evenings at the office and you can?” Thari felt weak, angry and vulnerable. Thari’s phone felt annoyed and frustrated from Aisha’s missed calls.

“Shfeek? Ma giltly sh9ar wyaa Layal tara,” 3abbas looked more worried now than annoyed. His forming wrinkles crinkled up together when his forehead furrowed. He took the seat in front of Thari and rested an elbow over the mahogany desk, watching Thari, waiting for his explanation.

Thari didn’t speak a word; his eyes were staring off at the depressing colour of the walls in his office. He had the sudden idea to redecorate, completely shutting 3abbas out of his head. He as furious at him, 3abbas was the main cause of all of his problems right now.

Was he? Weren’t you the one ignoring your wife for months because she couldn’t bear children? Now is that fair? To ignore your wife when she needed you the most? You can bear children; she’s the one who can’t. Was 3abbas really the main cause or was he just someone that forced you to wake up and face your problems head on? Even if he did it in the worst way, bringing in new problems to worry about.

Thari’s inner conscience whispered to him, the voice sounded so true.

“I have to go,” Thari mumbled suddenly, knowing what to do, finally.

“Hey?! Wain raye7?! 3laqal waqe3 el ewrigaa!” 3abbas called after Thari, staring at his back that was fading into the crowd of employees in the building. Thari was a fast runner and 3abbas didn’t dare to race him or try to stop him.

A smile lingered on 3abbas’s face as he watched his best friend chase the only person who could ever make him happy.

“That’s my boy,” 3abbas whispered to himself, a smile painted on his face.

-

“LAYAL,” Thari barged into his empty house, running from room to room, looking for his wife. He smelled the faint aroma of vanilla and baby powder; it was the scent of Layal’s Chloe perfume. He knew she was here, her car was parked right outside and usually at his time, she came back from work. But she didn’t answer him.

“The bedroom,” Thari whispered to himself, having that ‘aha!’ moment. He hurried upstairs; he heard footsteps, someone hurrying to do something in the room. He only knew that Layal was trying to lock the bedroom door to further avoid him and act asleep. It was her revenge for the countless times he acted asleep. However, Thari was too fast for her. He pushed the door open by twisting the knob and pressing his strong right shoulder against the wooden door. Layal stood motionless in front of him, the keys in her fair manicured hands.

“What?” Layal said as coldly as possible. Her hair tied up in a messy ponytail, her eyes had miniature red veins and her pouty lips were frowning.

“I love you,” Thari blurted out, completely unprepared.  He hadn’t planned his words but his emotions were bare and naked. All he did was rush to the house, not knowing what to say but his instinct told him to rush back before it was too late and he couldn’t ignore his instinct anymore.

“Isn’t Aisha waiting for you somewhere or something? Thari I’m busy, can we talk later?” Layal’s eyes hardened as she shrugged him off carelessly. It stung Thari painfully; the three words that meant the world to him couldn’t even fix a problem this big.

“Busy doing what?” Thari’s anger was fueling inside of him but he tried to calm himself down, he was trying to get her back, not push her away.

“Just busy, malik sheghl feene,” Layal gave Thari her back, she walked over to the bedroom, folding piles of clothes. Thari’s eyes followed her, all of the clothes were hers and he saw the suitcase hidden under the bed. The side of the suitcase was peeping out of the bed; the bright red colour of the suitcase caught his attention.

“Are you packing?!” Thari asked, his voice sounding panicked and alerted. Now he understood that instinct telling him to hurry back home as fast as possible.

“And what if I am?”

“Are you serious Layal? Just like that? You’re ending years of marriage, years of love, just like that huh?” Thari angrily stated, his voice becoming louder and louder.

“Oh really now? So now I’m the bad guy?” Layal laughed sarcastically. “Honey, stop pointing fingers when yours are clearly dirty,” she continued on, a sarcastic smile playing on her lips but her eyes had a different kind of emotion, an emotion even he couldn’t put his finger on.

“Layal,” Thari grabbed her shoulders, forcing her to turn around so he could face her. So he could look back into those coloured eyes and try to find the old Layal, the one he loves. Not the devil that inhabited her tongue.

“Don’t touch me!” Layal screeched, trying to push Thari off of her but his hands were too strong, his fingers pushed deeper into her skin but not too deep to hurt her, just deep enough to control her movements. He finally got a glance at her beautiful eyes, they were filling up with tears and they spoke of raw emotions, emotions of pain, loneliness and heartbreak. Her heart was filled with raw emotions that hurt her everyday but her tongue spoke of strength and anger. They hid her vulnerability, she couldn’t smile it off but she sure could keep the pain hidden through unkind words.

Thari caught a sense of her pain. The sensation struck him strongly and his heart ached for her. His anger was washed away, all he could do was watch her continue trying to fight him off but her emotions were so strong that it affected her body, it made her grew feeble against the hardness of his chest.

He wanted those emotions to morph into words but how could one explain their feelings through the use of mere letters and useless explanations?

He moved his hands from her shoulders to her necks, keeping her firmly against him. His fingers caressed her skin, calming her down slowly, before she could utter a word he pushed his lips down to hers, silencing them for what felt like hours.

And just like that, every bit of pain and every bit of her raw emotions were intermingled with his through a kiss. Thari’s cheeks were wet as they brushed against her, her tears rubbing off of his skin but her lips soft as a plush feather. Her body grew weak against him, her arms stopped fighting and her eyes were shut but she was sobbing quietly against his lips, not able to keep any of the pain inside any longer.

Thari slowly let go of her lips but kept his arms around her. Her eyes were still shut tightly, her head hidden into his chest, her tears cascading down her cheeks. The symphony of her quiet sobs ached him even more, he couldn’t watch her be in this much pain, he just couldn’t.

“Why does it hurt so much to love? I imagined it to be so wonderful, so perfect but it feels like such a nightmare, a nightmare morphed into reality,” the ache in her voice was obvious. He could see that she baring her soul, he successfully broke down the walls that were built in between them.

“Layal… I didn’t want to hurt you, I didn’t,” Thari murmured to himself, feeling his eyes tear slightly from watching her sob.

“Then why did you?” Layal’s eyes hardened once again, they were moist from the tears and the colours of forest green and brown wood were mixed around her pupils, the colours were glistening with the tears. “Isn’t love supposed to fee like happiness, protection and loyalty? I haven’t felt any of that.”

“Never? You never felt any of that Layal?”

“I did. But it stopped. I’ve accepted that you’ve changed, everyone changes, it’s the cycle of life but why did you have to do it for the worse?” Layal’s eyes pleaded for an answer that I didn’t have.

“Because I was scared.”

“Scared of what?”

“That we’d never be happy without children, that we would leave each other, I was scared of becoming my father.”

“Can’t you see?”

“See what?”

“Thari, you are not your father. You’re not the image of your parents; you’re not destined to have the future they ended up with. You’re Thari, my husband, 3abbas’s best friend, their son, you’re your own person and you’re not obligated to follow your parent’s footsteps. You’re also not obligated to marry Aisha…”

“I never wanted to marry her Layal! It was 3abbas’s stupid scheme, I didn’t know anything about it and then you showed up at the worst time too. I had no idea what to do, I didn’t want to lose you.”

“Why didn’t you just tell me that?!”

“I was-“

“Scared? For a man of your personality and strength, I would have never thought you of all people would be scared.”

“I only knew true fear when I met you, the fear of losing you and as much as I did the most horrible things, I did it our of fear of losing you.”

“Even spending so many nights on the couch and ignoring my existence?” Layal’s tears were refilling her eye sockets, threatening to spill over.

“I was numb, I didn’t know what to do. I was stupid, an idiot to leave you like that when you needed me as much as I needed you. I’m so sorry Layal, so sorry. I’ll do anything to fix everything, anything. I’m so used to being alone with the family I grew up with, I wasn’t used to the love you had for me. Please Layal, anything you want. Just name it.”

Le Chase, Season 2, Chapter 3

I'm in university, watching my friends study maths, subject I loathe. Lucky me, I got my laptop with me today so I said I'd start the post since I have either this or to watch two girls tackle a subject I hate. Of course I chose the first option, something I love to do.

Your feedback is much appreciated, comment down below to tell me what you think!

Thank you.

P.S: sorry for the April fools prank, hehe.

I know this is short, it's my beautiful mother's birthday *HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM! Haha as if she'll see this* and so I completely forgot about the post, also having writer's block isn't helping, but I promised to finish it off this weekend since I'm done with my midterm exams this week. Lets hope the next post is longer!

Thank you @MarryamAlAali for one of the ideas, I loved it and added it to this post. Credit goes to you. xo

Previously in Chapter 2:

"Didn't 3abbas tell you anything?" Now Aisha seemed confused.

"Tell me what?" Thari questioned, Aisha pursed her ruby lips slightly before she started speaking but her words were muffled because of the sudden noise appearing behind him. He was turning around to give the ladies creating all this noise an annoyed glare but he met two familiar wide coloured eyes that he loved so much.

Layal stood staring at Thari and the woman with him in pure shock, the girls with her were too busy chatting loudly but one of them stood with Layal, glancing at Thari too, with a disgusted expression on her face.

"He didn't tell you about us meeting so we would you know, maybe get married? I don't mind that you have a first wife, if she doesn't mind that she has to share," soon, Thari caught the words from Aisha's mouth, but he was stuck in between both of the women.

And the man had no idea what to do.

-

And suddenly, it struck him. It must have been the most idiotic idea known to man, but he had to do it.

"OH GOD, ARE YOU OKAY?" Thari suddenly bolted out of his seat and looked at the women with his fake expression that was full of worry and shock. Aisha sat there, blankly staring at Thari as if he was a maniac.

"Huh-" Aisha was about to ask but Thari cut her off.

"Oh goodness, you're out of breath and you can't even talk anymore," Thari said in a loud voice, making sure everyone heard them. Especially Layal, who was intently watching them. Her face was now more curious than betrayed. "Did you know that man? The man that attacked you?"

And right on cue, 3abbas must have heard all the racket and had left the bathroom in a hurry. He quicky noticed that Layal was just behind them, he was about to tell Thari, panic crossing over his face but Thari gave him a glare that notified 3abbas that Thari already noticed his wife was a few metres away.

"Sh9ayer?" 3abbas asked, his voice sounding nervous.

"Oh 3abbas, kent ga3d a6libly gahwa chan ashouf wa7d 7m** ga3d yet7arash feeha, kan yabe yijees'ha," Thari began to lie, 3abbas soon knew what he was trying to do and began playing along. Only Aisha remained confused and didn't have the chance to utter a word to ask what was going on.

"Offfh!" 3abbas exclaimed in a fake shocked voice. Thari could easily see that he was acting but 3abbas had his back to Layal, so non of the women, including Layal, behind them, could see that it was a fluke.

"Thari? Sh9ayer?" Thari felt a hand on his left arm, a warm one. He immediately knew that it was Layal, before he even heard her honey coated voice. He felt the guilt rise in his chest as he turned around and began making up a story about how he was minding his own business but once he saw a man try to approach the woman and try to touch her, he had to intervene. Layal seemed to have believed every word, her eyes were full of trust, as if she even knew that he wouldn't do anything else than protect a stranger, nothing like cheating on her. She had full trust in him.

"Wee, is she okay?" Layal seemed worried, before letting Thari to answer, she approached the woman with a worrisome expression on her face.

"Feech shay 7beebty?" Layal asked, examining Aisha to search for any wounds, in case the man was too rough on her.

"La2, shfeekom entow? Shel salfa?" Aisha took this chance to bicker, causing Layal to become confused. "Ey rayaal? W shfeekom kelkom etkhizouny? Ba6at athouni men 9rakh'kom."

"Huh? What-" Layal began but Thari quickly cut her off.

"She's a bit in denial, emshay Layal khan rou7," Thari's eyes looked desperate, he held onto his wife's arm, trying his best to veer her away from Aisha.

"Et3rfoun b3a'9?" Aisha asked, her eyes on Thari's hand on Layal's shoulder.

"Zouje," Layal answered, feeling the eyes of her friends burning into her back. She knew she had some major explaining to do once she got back.

"Ohh, ma 3areft ena kentay bitiyeen! Chan galouly, walla el7mdellah wayed ahwan chithe," Aisha seemed relieved.

"Shqa9dich?" Layal's face twisted with confusion.

"Layal emshay," Thari's voice was hard as steel but Layal wouldn't move or answer him.

"I thought we had to do the engagement behind your back but since you're here, we can do it with your approval enshallah." Aisha gave Layal a gleaming smile. Layal felt a hurtful pang to her chest but her inner voice told her to keep calm and Aisha might be talking about another man, maybe even 3abbas. But wasn't 3abbas already married? Was Layal missing something here?

"Thari, your wife's on board! So I was thinking we skip the wedding since Thari already had one with you, it would be weird to do one just for me. I'm cool about it but I want the honeymoon to be in Italy. Layal, you understand that we have to have our private time too," Aisha's cat shaped eyes landed on Layal's stricken coloured ones. Now, Layal's assumptions were answered, the excuses she made for her husband withered away in an instant.

"S-shnu?" Layal turned around to face Thari, her eyes remained hard but inside, she wanted so desperately to grab Thari away, cry her eyes out and demand for an explanation. Thari stood in front of her, he didn't even say anything. He froze, his head blank, unable to lie to explain a thing.

Those moments were you replay the events later on and wish you would have said so many things, but once you were in that event, you freeze and realise you have no words to say. You're simply stuck there, unable to think or find a good explanation. Thari felt that way, he knew few hours from now he would have the perfect explanation to save him for this. As for now, he had nothing.

"Layal, t3alay digeega-" 3abbas intervened, trying to save his best friend's marriage before it corrupted in front of him. He felt he was to blame for but at the same time, he wanted his best friend to have the family he always wanted. He put Thari before his wife but seeing his wife in front of him now, trying all of her best to not break down in tears in public to embarrass herself in front of her co-workers, caused him to feel one percent of the guilt Thari was feeling.

Layal began recalling how Thari looked like he was a kid, being caught stealing a piece of cake in the kitchen when she walked in the cafe, catching him with the woman. That moment lasted for a second before he began screaming, starting the whole story with the man bothering Aisha. She also recalled that there was no man, or a car driving off when she arrived. The cafe was deserted. Hessa would have noticed these details even without Layal hearing Aisha's words of another marriage. Layal felt completely idiotic to even miss these details at first. She also felt idiotic that she would have complete trust in him, after all those nights he spends out of the house and ignoring her existence altogether when he's finally back.

"Okay," Layal said.

"Okay what? Thari and 3abbas asked at once.

The following words that left Layal's mouth shocked Thari to the core.

"Okay, lets get you married Thari."

Le Chase, Season 2, Chapter 2

I'm finally back in Kuwait! And ready to post.

Before you read the post, please just read these words, they're important.

1- NO curse words or "SAB" on my comments, understand? Get off my blog if you will be rude with your tongue, I have readers who are aged 8 years old and above, (yes I know young kids who read my blog). And I also know my comments are PUBLIC, ANYONE can read those words and I would appreciate it if you keep those words to yourself. Honestly, don't stoop down to such low levels, you're better than this.

2- I understand it's annoying as heck to wait for a post but I have a life. It doesn't mean I'm busy 24/7, yes I have free time sometimes and no, I don't always feel like writing, sometimes I'd rather go out have fun or lay in bed on a lazy day. But I won't say I'll write it on a certain day and break a promise, that's why I don't give out dates. If this annoys you so much then just go to another blogger's story, this is my hobby and I have chosen to continue my old stories for you guys and if I get bad behaviour, I will certainly stop writing them. Writing is a passion, do not turn it into homework for me.

3- I'll schedule my time better so I can write at least a post every week enshallah, this month has just been hectic. As soon as I'm done with the exams and projects this week, I'll handle my blog more enshallah.

This post goes out to the lovely Basma, MJ, Fatma (famousawi) and Melodrama. I know there are a lot of people who defend me and stay so patient for posts, so understanding and are so kind to me all the time. These are a few beautiful girls who have just reminded me today why I love writing so much. I hurried back from the airport and I won't sleep until I write this post for you guys. I've delayed it too long, forgive me and thank you to these beautiful girls and for all the other readers who have been here for me, supporting my stories and being absolutely amazing with everything.

Comments are open again, don't swear please, you can say you didn't like the post or don't like or whatever else you don't like through more appropriate use of words.

Spread kindness y'all! :p

Previously in Chapter 1 of Season 2:

"Heyy!" 7amany, my brother, grinned.

"BABA!" Abdullah suddenly woke up, hearing my brother's loud voice.

"Wee, ga3edta." 7amany tried to ignore my glare, it took me an hour to try to get him to sleep.

"Your problem now," I shook my head as Abdullah pounced from my lap and into his father's arms.

"Shloun el filim?" I asked, straightening my messy hair.

"Kan 7lu, Jawa bel sayara al7een na6ratny. Thank you so much for babysitting 3boud while we were out," 7amany gave me a light kiss on the cheek, holding Abdullah with his left arm.

"No problem," Layal smiled.

Layal stood outside of her house, watching 7amany and his wife drive off with Abdullah. She felt queasy, watching the car disappear off into the distance on the grey coloured road. Depression hit her once she was back all alone in big house.

She kept longing for that one thing.

That one thing that God wouldn't grant her with.

-

Thari snuck into the house, his leather Bottega Veneta shoes sliding over the marble floors, the leather grinding over the hard exterior of the ground, causing the shoes to cry out through the sounds of squeaking. He threw his crisply ironed blazer over the couch, the lights were dimmed, he could hear the sounds of the AC whizzing past his ear. It was exactly 1:00 AM in the morning, Layal was probably sound asleep in the bedroom and Thari hadn't even approached the stairs.

He collapsed right onto the luscious feeling couch, the softness of it hugged his body, welcoming him into it's warmth. He closed his eyes for a second, taking a lungful of breath into his mouth.

Slow wisps of sounds entered through his left ear, he heard her toes sliding over the stairs quietly, Layal  had heard the whirr of his engine outside and he guessed she even waited up for him. As she always did, every night. He usually came around midnight but tonight, he purposely stayed out till 1 AM since he always found her awake at midnight, he wanted her fast asleep, it made the guilt easier.

Warmth touched the side of his arm, she was closer now. She didn't murmur his name to make sure he was asleep or not, she got used to him collapsing on the couch for months after he came back from the office. She stopped asking once he stopped answering her with his "mms" or "yes I'm awake" and started ignoring her.

He could feel her eyes on him, he counted slowly till twenty. Right about now was when she'd grab the blanket and pull it over his body but this time, he reached till forty and he still didn't feel the blanket. He heard sniffs and quiet hiccups, he tried not to move to give away that he was awake and closely listened to her.

Fifty one... fifty two... fifty three...

Where's the occasional blanket and whisper goodnight? He wondered. Before I could reach the number sixty, he felt her soft lips against his forehead and the heaviness of the blanket pulled over him. A trickle of wetness touched his cheek, he wondered what it was but he remained still, acting asleep. He waited for the sound of her feet walking away, once he heard them on the stairs and the soft click of their bedroom door, he quickly opened up his eyes and stopped acting asleep.

He touched his left cheek, it was wet. A droplet of water had touched his beard and he hoped it hadn't been Layal's tears. The heaviness was still there.

The heaviness was never from the blanket, from all those nights he acted asleep and she would tuck him in with a blanket. The heaviness was in his chest, from all the guilt he felt from the fact that he kept on this act for so many nights when he knew, she was miserable. He never knew how to face her after knowing he could never see a little boy that resembled him, or a little girl that resembled his wife.

He closed his eyes and embraced the heaviness, keeping it close to his chest as he drifted off to sleep, imagining that it was Layal's arms instead of the guilt that was trapped inside of him.

-

"Layal, hello? Wainch?" Hessa's voice scared Layal, she whipped her head away from the window and looked at her tall friend Hessa. They were work friends and were both at Starbucks with a few other colleagues for their lunch break. Layal's long fingers were wrapped around her white mocha, her thoughts parading everywhere.

"Ha? Kanee kanee!" Layal laughed in a singsongy way, the sound was too fake, even to Hessa's ears. The other girls were too engrossed into the gossip with each other to notice.

"Emshay, khan rou7 el 7amam." Hessa grabbed Layal's arm, pulling her up from the table, ushering her to the bathroom, leaving Layal's drink deserted on the coffee table with the other girls, still chirping about some woman who had been divorced twice and is already pregnant with her third husband.

"Shfeech?" Hessa asked once she made sure the Starbucks bathroom was empty of people. The smell of Dettol soap and coffee beans danced in her nostrils. Layal stared off into space, unable to answer for a few minutes.

"Wela shay," she finally said.

"Etgi9een 3la mnu? Yalla 3ad, goulay." Hessa cocked an eyebrow, leaning her back onto the sink, her peplum shirt perfectly balancing out her curves.

"9ej... bas ta3bana, mu nayma 3adl men ams."

"Raylch 6awal mara thanya, mu?" Hessa guessed. Layal and her had gotten really close ever since they met a few years back when they were both applying for the job and had both luckily got it.

Layal remained silent and simply nodded.

"Hatha athwal?! Laish yisawe feech chithe?!" Hessa barked out in frustration.

"Mashghoul bel bor9a, y3ne 3ade..." Layal sighed.

"Layal we both know it isn't that and the fact that you still wait for him every night is pathetic, enzain?" She lectured. "Where's the hard-to-get Layal?"

"We're married Hessa, ay hard-to-get? Don't you think we're way past that now?"

"So that's it? You're going to follow him around like a lost puppy?"

"I'm his wife."

"He's your husband, he should start acting like one instead of doing this to you every night. He barely talks to you anymore, he's always 'working' and he cancelled your trip to Germany together for the reason of 'being too lazy to go', the heck?" Hessa dwelled on, "And when did he start acting like such a jerk? After he finds out you can't have children! He's not the only one in pain here, he can still have kids, you're the one with the problem and he should understand that you're the one who needs him right now, not the other way round for goodness sakes!"

"Hessa wa6ay 9outch, fashla etha a7ad sema3." Layal hissed, Hessa's voice was echoing in the bathroom but realistically there wasn't anyone around anyway.

"Mnu eb yesma3ny? You're just shutting me up because you know I'm right."

"Can we go back to our coffees and forget about this?"

"No, you need to keep your husband in line or else you'll be the one getting traumatised."

"Hessa, we're in Kuwait, not in America, shal 7achee?"

"I don't care where we are, this is wrong, just because he's a man doesn't give him the right to do something wrong. Especially to his own wife. I doubt he even is asleep on that couch, I bet he's faking it."

"He wouldn't, he just wouldn't."

"Tickle his feet tonight, if he squeezes his eyes shut super tight till you see lines then he's awake. It means he's trying his best not to fidget around or laugh, if he was truly asleep then he'll move about but his eyes won't be shut so tight that he'll look weird laying there." Hessa evaluated.

"That's stupid Hessa, seriously."

"Use it tonight and thank me later."

-

Layal waited that night even longer, till 2 AM this time. She heard the familiar whirring of Thari's engine, the door keys jingling and those leather shoes squeaking as he tip toed to the couch. She waited longer this time before going downstairs, she was trying to be normal but she knew she waited longer to give him more time to fall asleep.

After fifteen minutes, she walked slowly down the stairs, as quiet as possible. She stared at his peaceful looking face, he was sound asleep. Of course he was asleep, just look at that angelic face. He couldn't be acting, could he? Layal trickled her fingers over his feet, his shoes were on the ground, his socks right besides the coffee table. She stared right at his eyes, no lines were there, he was breathing in and out slowly.

She tickled between his toes, on the soles of his feet and still no lines on his eyelids from squeezing them too tightly.

He is asleep.

Layal was about to grab the blanket to automatically tuck him in and go back to bed but she quickly paused once her fingers touched the cashmere blanket next to Thari as she remembered something important. Thari wasn't ticklish in the feet. He could only be tickled on his neck.

Layal took a deep breath, feeling the nervous butterflies swishing around in her stomach. He must be asleep.

Just do it Layal w khal9ay! A little voice commanded in her head, it sounded a lot like Hessa's scolding voice.

Layal pulled her fingers out and trailed them over Thari neck, tickling it slightly. She watched his eyes, they crinkled slightly and the eyelids formed small wrinkles of lines, he looked as if he was shutting his eyes too tightly, trying to stop something from happening. He was trying to stop himself from laughing, his mouth twitched once before he regained control.

Hessa would have encouraged Layal to tickle some more until he finally admitted to being awake but Layal was too emotional, she snatched her fingers away and simply stared at Thari, his face calimg down instantly and his eyelids smoothing out automatically after her fingers stopped tickling his neck.

He didn't fidget or move around like a normal person would do while asleep, he stayed frigid and looked stressed out as he tried to compose his posture so badly to keep his act.

Layal felt as if someone tore her heart out of her chest and squeezed it with their long sharp nails, digging into those veins. For months, he had been acting, for months.

Thari must have reached a hundred, counting, waiting for Layal's occasional blanket, but this time, Layal took the blanket and threw it over his lap, hard.

"You tuck yourself in tonight, I'm done doing it." Layal snapped at him, knowing he was listening. What disgusted her even more was that he continued acting asleep, making Layal doubt for a second that he was really acting or not but the fact that his hands squeezed over the blanket made her 100% sure that he was still acting.

That night, Layal didn't sleep with a pillow case full of lonely tears or a frown on her face, she slept with a heavy heart and an angry expression.

-

"Where are we going?" Thari asked 3abbas, who had offered to carpool with him to work this morning when Thari woke up in the morning, seeing his car taken by Layal. He kept thinking over her words from last night, knowing she probably found out that he was acting that he was asleep for months just to avoid her. The guilt increased and he dreaded seeing her, afraid of an argument but at the same time, he was hoping so badly to talk to her and to at least explain. But explain what? What was his reason? Did he even have a good one? Thari was worried, couldn't even defend himself.

"Somewhere," 3abbas had taken a different route and Thari didn't recognise it but he was sure that it didn't take them to the office.

3abbas parked in front of a local Starbucks and gestured to it, making Thari follow him inside.

"Grabbing a coffee before work y3ne? Tara el hindi ely yishtighl 3ndna isn't that bad at making us coffee, mu ela enrou7 darb bas 3shan gahwa, 6awelna tara." Thari complained, gesturing to his Rolex rose gold watch. He hated being late to the office, especially when he knew he had a meeting in an hour and he wanted to make sure he had a good breakfast before it.

"Shd3wa, emsh bas emsh," 3abbas walked into the coffee brewing cafe. There was nobody around, just a woman sitting by herself by one of the tables with a coffee in her hand. Thari went straight to the cashier to order but 3abbas passed him and walked to the table where the woman was. Thari stood besides the cashier, confused. 3abbas looked back at him, walking towards him to grab him and force him to follow.

"Ahlain," the woman purred. Her cat shaped eyes looked over to 3abbas and then to Thari, her hair was pulled down to loose waves and her angular face looked young and fresh. Her dress was cut slim on her body, hugging her barely there curves but her dark short hair brought her pale flawless skin into view.

"Thari, hathee Aisha. Vice versa." 3abbas introduced us, ignoring my very confused expression on my face. He sat in front of her, leaving the seat besides her for me. I was forced to sit besides her, I wanted to grab another chair or pull the chair closer to 3abbas but the table was tiny, there was no space.

"Shlounch?" 3abbas asked the woman, completely ignoring Thari. It angered him even more.

The heck? Why is he bringing me to a cafe to this strange woman without an explanation? Is she some girlfriend of his? How could he even cheat on his wife? Thari's thoughts whizzed about.

"Zaina el7mdellah, entow shlounkom?" Aisha smiled, she had a gap in her two front teeth but her nose remained straight, her teeth glistening white.

"Tamam," 3abbas answered and waited for Thari to do the same, but he ignored the question altogether and glared at 3abbas. He was about to stand and storm out of the cafe but 3abbas's next move stopped him.

"Dgeega, ana bas barou7 el 7amam okay? Khalkom ga3deen," 3abbas patted Thari's back, Thari wanted to so badly punch 3abbas in the face and twist that hand of his. His temper was getting out of control now, especially once 3abbas left both Thari and the so called Aisha woman alone together.

"So..." Aisha dwelled on, looking at Thari with an intrigued expression on her young face.

Thari simply ignored her, he wouldn't even look at her. He acted as if there was something super interesting on the wall in front of him.

Ana male sheghl bel mara, 3abbas always has to get me in his dirty business. I'll show that jerk. Thari was plotting an evil plan to get back at 3abbas, ignoring the woman altogether.

"Thari, it's a bit weird that you're avoiding this." Aisha stated.

"Avoiding shnu?" Thari said in a disgusted tone.

"3abbas told me that you were interested, I guess you're not anymore." Aisha cocked a strongly arched eyebrow at Thari.

"Interested in what?" Thari's forehead furrowed in confusion.

Previously in the Finale, Chapter 43:

"So, Germany, Paris, Phuket or got another country in mind for our honeymoon?" Thari asked me once we were both in the car, leaving the hospital together.

"Anywhere," I smiled.

"All of Europe?" Thari grinned, he had the windows down, the wind filling the insides of his sleek Rolls Royce.

"Deal."

"Okay Layal, neseitay shay thane men 3irsna gabel ams," Thari kept his eyes on the road, but his eyes would flicker over to me every once in a while.

"I think I know what it is, but do you really want it? Ma maleit?"

"Shloun amil? Men 9ijich? It's the highlight of my day." Thari replied.

I leaned over from the passenger seat to make sure I could whisper in his ear, saying it slowly so he wouldn't miss a word.

"I.. love... you."

-

"Abdullah, STOP!" The voice frightened the little boy, he was sitting under the table, his hand stuffed into the peanut butter jar, trying to grab a handful of peanut butter into his already small sticky hands.

"Lala," he called out in a whiny voice, calling Layal in by her funny nickname.

"Abdullah!" Her voice was stern now, he knew he was going to get into trouble if he continued to attack the peanut butter. He sighed, taking his small chubby fingers out and handed the jar to the much taller woman. She grabbed it, her expression disappointed, her coloured eyes looking into Abdullah's dark ones, shaking her head furiously.

"Al7een shloun betghada?" Layal sighed, she failed to act angry, she broke out in a smile, looking at his adorable little face. His dark charcoal eyes, his light skin, the way his circle shaped nose was pointed upwards at the peanut butter, sniffing the delicious aroma, her pink lips smeared with the brown jam.

"3ade," he stuttered, giving Layal a toothy smile.

"Yalla, goum 7beeby," Layal kneeled down to the cold hard ground of the kitchen, trying to lure Abdullah out of his hiding place. He enjoyed sitting in the kitchen, always sneaking junk food along with him, filling out his already chubby cheeks that Layal loved to squeeze.

"Wein baba?" Abdullah asked, successfully leaving his hiding place under the table and crawled to Layal's legs. He placed his palms on top of her jeans, smearing it with peanut butter. Layal took no notice, she was already used to his messy hands, her hair was put up in a messy bun, her left cheek dotted with jam from making Abdullah's sandwich for lunch.

"Bara, birid b3ad shway 7beeby."

"Bas ana abe Baba!" Abdullah whined, clinging to Layal's waist. The ground beneath them was cold and Abdullah wore shorts, his legs bare and were a mess. Layal worried he would catch a cold if they stayed any longer on the floor. She carried him, trying to distract him with the sandwich she made.

"I'll add some peanut butter to your sandwich if you'll be a good boy, okay?" Layal used her sweet voice.

"Hmm, khala9 okay!" Abdullah grinned, excited to eat his lunch now.

"You look so much like him," Layal whispered to herself, watching Abdullah bite into his sandwich, getting some jam on his cheek. He hadn't heard her words but Layal intently watched him, a smile on her face.

"Thari, ana bamshe, tabe shay?" 3abbas asked Thari, his face was absorbed by the computer in front of him. He was trying to fix the computer but his computer skills were close to zero and the I.T  guywas on holiday.

"La salamtk 7beeby."

"Allah yesalmik, ashoufk bacher," 3abbas gave Thari a grim smile, his wrinkles slightly showing. His face was beginning to age, his face wasn't as young as it used to be six years ago. Thari looked at his own reflection in the computer, his hair was a lot shorter now, his beard taking most of us face but no wrinkles yet.

"Thari," a seductive voice purred. Thari quickly looked up and found his secretary standing in the doorway. She had yet another tight shirt on today, a red velvet colour and her cleavage was trying budge out of the shirt since it was so tight. Her hair was curled, her eyes coated with so much mascara that Thari worried her eyelashes would fall off.

"Na3am?" Thari barely looked at her.

"I'm about to leave too, are you sure you don't want anything before I go?" Sally looked at Thari with eagerness, tapping her red coated nails on the wooden door of his office.

"Nope."

"Are you sure? Anything at all?" She asked in a huskier voice, biting down on her bottom lip, accidentally licking off some of her heavily coated burgundy lipstick. Her teeth was smeared with it, Thari tried not to laugh at how idiotic she looked.

"I'm sure Sally, have a nice weekend," Thari sternly replied. "And close the door behind you," he added before she could try to lure him in anymore, she huffed in defeat and left, banging the door behind her.

The door opened yet again, Thari became annoyed and was about to tell off Sally for coming in again but when he looked up, it was just 3abbas. Thari's facial expression changed from annoyed to confused.

"Ha 3abbas, tabe shay?" Thari stopped trying to fix his computer and mentally planned to call up the I.T guy to fix it when he came back from his holiday on Sunday. He unbuttoned the first few buttons of his shirt under his dark blazer, the Armani suit he wore was becoming uncomfortable, he longed for his sweats and the comfiness of his couch.

"Neseit as2lk," 3abbas walked in, closing the door behind him quietly before sitting on the teal leather chair in front of Thari's mahogany desk that was placed right next to the large windows, overlooking the skyscraper view of Kuwait.

"Yeah?"

"Sh9ar m3a el test results?" 3abbas's eyes looked worried, even his own buttons of his shirt were unbuttoned and his blazer was off, it was tucked under his left arm.

"Lal7een ma et6le3aw el results."

"Thari, don't you think doing it in another country is a waste of time? The hospital in Kuwait already gave you the results, what are you trying to do? You should just accept this," 3abbas stressfully pushed his fingers into his not so bald hair.

"3abbas-"

"Thari, getting the same test done at another hospital or another country won't change the results."

"It's non of your business, fahim?"

"Non of my business? Should I remind you how long I've known you? W lal7een ma teghayart, lal7een 3aneed!"

"3abbas, is that all?" Thari clenched his fists angrily, trying to shut out 3abbas's voice. 3abbas looked at Thari, his eyes looking sad.

"Can I suggest another solution?"

"Go ahead," Thari said in a bored voice.

"You should move on and marry someone else already."

-

"Layal?" His deep voice called out to the house, scaring me suddenly. I was holding Abdullah in my arms, he fell asleep watching his childish shows on the television. I dozed off slightly, waiting for him to come back. I looked up and found him, tall, his hair brushed back and a grin on his face.

"Aww, he's alseep?"

"Haha eee, he even snores like you when he's asleep," I poked Abdullah's left chubby cheek lightly, careful not to wake him up. His head puny body warmed up my lap, my arm was under his head, acting as his pillow.
